Peas in a Pod

by Paul Southall on 1st February 2018

Pip has been staying on the farm with Ollie for the last 10 days, but has gone back home to Surrey today. Our first pea seeds of the year went into the ground this morning; sadly a couple of heavy showers stopped the drilling process. We are planting a very early variety into light soil and will aim to put a fleece crop cover over the growing crop – this keeps the frost, and wood pigeons, at bay. With a bit of luck the field will be ready for picking by late May.
